This Flip-Flop gets a 7.5.

Each day Barack Hussein Obama flip-flops on another issue. This time it is energy. We have an energy crises in the US. Not enough domestic oil. And up until yesterday Obama's solution was alternative energies and tire pressure.

When I wrote to Senator Obama on this issue (he is my senator) I received this response:
We should continue to look for new sources of domestic fuel production - - but not unless the pursuit of alternative fuels and energy efficiency is conducted at far greater levels than has been done in the past.
A big change from what he originally stated back in June when he opposed any and all drilling off shore or in ANWAR for new sources of oil.

Yesterday Obama dropped this bombshell:

Barack Obama on Monday called for tapping into strategic oil reserves as part of his plan to provide relief from high gas prices.

Obama has previously said he was opposed to using the strategic reserves, but on Monday he proposed selling 70 million barrels of oil from the reserves in order to lower gas prices.

Obama unveiled his energy plan, which includes a windfall profits tax on big oil corporations that would be used to provide a $1,000 rebate to people struggling with high energy costs.

"You won't hear me say this too often, but I couldn't agree more with the explanation that Sen. McCain offered a few weeks ago. He said, 'Our dangerous dependence on foreign oil has been 30 years in the making, and was caused by the failure of politicians in Washington to think long term about the future of the country,' " Obama said.

The Democratic presidential candidate said he wants to eliminate the need for oil from the Middle East and Venezuela within 10 years.

Obama has spoken against offshore drilling, but last week he said he would be willing to compromise if it were part of a more overarching strategy to lower energy costs.

Barack Obama is a dreamer. He is planning a 10-year solution. It will take 20 years to research, invest and develop any new energy source, let alone build an infrastructure that would make it a reality. So what does the US do in the mean time? It waits and watches as gas goes to $10 a gallon, $15 a gallon, $20 a gallon.

And what is Obama's temporary solution? Make sure your car is running smoothly with a tune-up and properly inflate your tires. Part of it is just common sense. If your car is in tune and your tires are properly inflated, you will have better gas mileage. But it will not solve our energy crises as it now stands. The idea reminds me of President Ford's Whip Inflation Now buttons of the 1970's. Both are bad ideas, but at least President Ford's didn't cost the average American a small fortune every time they fill up their car.

Enemies of America would like nothing better than for us to have a bunch of inept politicians, like Obama, Pelosi and Reid, pushing us to squander our strategic oil reserves ... so that if they close the straights of Hormuz, we wouldn't have any emergency oil to use. Are these the kind of leaders you want to protect us, and keep America strong? The liberal's idea of globalization only works when the countries they are pandering to either meet us half way, or abandon their goals to destroy us. Elect a loyal candidate for President ... a man who truly loves America ... elect John McCain in November.

P.S. In additionl, we don’t even know if the ‘other things’ that are supposed to bring us alternative
energy will be cost effective, or even work. However, I agree that we must move forward with development of alternative energy ASAP … but, in the meantime, this entire country runs on oil. And, I’m not just talking about us consumers at the pump, I’m talking about how everything we use, eat, wear, etc. … how it all gets to market, and eventually to us. We have to drill more, if even as a transition until alternate fuels are developed, But, aside from the cost at the pump for consumers, the bigger issue still is our national security. Drilling oil on our own land insures us energy independence, which will stop us from total dependence on countries who don’t like us … and from countries we’ve been sending tens of billions of dollars to every year. We must drill ASAP. The politicians who tell you different are simply placing petty party politics above the prosperity and security of America. Obama’s policies are just one example of what can happen when a bunch of inexperienced, but exuberant followers blindly follow an inexperienced, incompetent charismatic leader, who thinks he’s the second coming, off the cliff. Hunger is not enough of a justification to eat the goose that lays the golden eggs … or, eventually everyone will starve. If Obama, with his socialistic redistribution of wealth scams wins, America will turn into a third world country, with massive company closures and unemployment, within a few years.

He's your Senator? Poor baby! I didn't realize.

He has proven that he is nothing more than an old-fashioned politician. Swaying in the breeze, checking which way the wind blows, saying anything to get elected. Unfortunately it will be people like us who will suffer if he gets elected.

Honestly, I just can’t believe this. Why does he think it’s the governments job to keep oil prices low??? I wish I was a better writer so that I could better express my outrage. If we want to see oil prices significantly lower then let’s, as consumers, support the alternative energy movement. In general, I think it is important for us to support ‘green’ business that not only provides a social utility but also helps the environment. For example, http://www.simplestop.net stops your postal junk mail and benefits the environment. But I digress… Obama’s political idealogy is a slippery slope. Where will liberty be in 100 years if the gov’t continues down the road it is along.

So he is capable of changing his mind when the pressure is on, good to know.
